Microsoft is making an important change to Exchange Online that could affect organizations using System Center Service Manager (SCSM) to process support emails.
Beginning October 1, 2026, Microsoft is deprecating Exchange Web Services (EWS) for Exchange Online. If your SCSM environment uses the Microsoft Exchange Connector with an Exchange Online mailbox, this change could disrupt the connector’s ability to retrieve messages and create incidents or service requests.
If you operate your own Exchange servers, this Exchange Online change does not affect you.

A Graph-Ready Exchange Connector Option
One of the alternatives covered in the webinar is the SMLets Exchange Connector, an open-source, community-developed connector for System Center Service Manager.
Version 6 introduces support for Microsoft Graph, allowing the connector to work with Exchange Online without relying on EWS. It can also continue to support environments using on-premises Exchange.
For organizations already using SMLets, the webinar covers important considerations when moving to Graph, including Microsoft Entra app registration, Graph permissions, and removing reliance on legacy EWS permissions.
