As 2022 has come to a close, it’s time to take a step back and examine all updates that have come from both Microsoft and Cireson alike that will affect your System Center Service Manager in 2023.
2022 Updates from Microsoft
On April 1, 2022, Microsoft announced the general availability of System Center 2022. Microsoft’s continued investment in System Center means guaranteed Mainstream Support through April 2027. Additionally, with System Center 2022 datacenters are becoming more heterogeneous with multiple host platforms and hypervisors.
As of June 15, 2022, Internet Explorer 11 has officially been retired and is out of support. Now you will need to use a new internet browser for all your browsing needs. Edge has easily replaced most instances of Internet Explorer and is compatible with your Cireson Portal. If you have not already actively chosen a new browser, users will be redirected to Edge, but may still see the IE icon on their taskbar/menu.
As of July 12, 2022, System Center 2012 reached end of support. Therefore, as of this date, System Center 2012 products no longer receive security updates, non-security updates, bug fixes, technical support, or online technical content updates. Additionally, SC2012 does not support the latest TLS standards for secure communication over the internet, increasing your organization’s security vulnerability.
2022 Updates from Cireson
Focused on improving the experience for keeping all stakeholders informed about System Center Service Manager activities, we kicked off the year with our Q1 webinar in which we shared the Notification Activity Console App. This new feature in the Cireson Portal provides the flexibility to determine how, when and who is notified of activities in System Center Service Manager, without ever having to leave Service Manager.
With the release of Cireson Portal for System Center Service Manager (SCSM) v11.5 came one of the greatest improvements to Service Manager performance through Analytics. With Analytics Archiver, you are able to save and retrieve everything listed above for analysts and auditors alike—without writing a single line of SQL. This can all be done with a single checkbox during setup.
At Innovate 2022, the Cireson team unveiled an exciting new solution to revolutionize the service desk as we know it. Tikit, Cireson’s IT service desk built exclusively for Microsoft Teams gives customers the flexibility to integrate the Cireson Portal with innovative Teams-based functionality. For customers looking to simplify their service desk, migration to Tikit is another option and one the Cireson team is available to help with. Discover which option might be right for your organization.
Also at Innovate 2022, our focus was on expanding cloud activity with our Microsoft Power Automate Connector for the Cireson Service Manager Portal v11.7. With this exciting announcement, it gave stakeholders the ability to tie into SCSM without writing code. Along with added support for Power Automate and the Notification Activity Console App, v11.7 also supported the new Delay Activity Console App which allows a user to create an Activity which will wait for a predetermined time before it marks itself “Complete.”
In late 2022, we announced the improvement of Workflow Automations with a new app: Cloud Activity for SCSM. Now it’s never been easier to move between PowerShell Activity or Webhooks directly within the flow of work. Additionally, this gives you the power to trigger PowerShell Activity from Incidents.
