So you receive a meeting invite with a caption of BYOD, and you’re thinking wow what kind of meeting is this, should I spike my coffee or bring a six pack? Well it’s more likely that you should bring your personal smartphone or tablet.
The Bring Your Own Device revolution refers to the policy of permitting employees to bring personally owned mobile devices (laptops, tablets, and smart phones) to their workplace, and to use those devices to access privileged company information and applications.
Employees are on the go more today than ever and with the ability to work virtually the old 9 to 5 is long gone. Employers realize that offering their employee’s ways to perform their duties during off hours from the comfort of home or a remote location increases overall productivity and also helps maintain work/life balance and morale.
Adopting a BYOD policy also helps the bottom line, since hardware costs can be dramatically reduced. This change in culture sparks the high demand for meaningful internal enterprise mobile applications.
Cireson is here to help our clients answer that demand!
We are already developing a smartphone application for asset management that utilizes barcode scanning (see a sneak peek of the screenshots below). You can read more about this application in this recent blog post: Modernizing Asset Management
Cireson is also developing web services that enable interaction with Service Manager Data. Our clients will be able to use these services in many ways including implementing their own custom tasks via the Cireson Analyst Portal.
While we are on the subject the upcoming Cireson Analyst Portal and Self-Service Portal are examples of more applications that enable user access to Service Manager from any device, any browser, and any platform.
The apps just keep coming, stay tuned for the next amazing Cireson application.
